The Shower Bouquet
This is the most popular classic design for bridal bouquets. As there are many different styles it is important that the bride can identify the style she prefers. The shower bouquest consists of a posy top which flows down to a single, fairly slender trail. The flowers in the trail section are all attached to a central havey wire.
Teardrop Bouquet
This very popular design also has a posy top, but the flowers flowing down into the trail section, instead of being slender, are kept very wide right down to the tip of the bouquet. Flowers in teh trail are all attached to a central heavy wire.
Drop Shower Bouquets
The drop shower bouquet has a posy top, but the trail is very different in construction to the showers or the reardrop bouquet.
As the flowers all flow from the posy top on individual wires, the width of the trailing section would be similar to the teardrop or possibly wider.
Trailing Bouquet
The design of the trailing bouquet does not have a posy top; instead it is very slender from the top to the tip of the bouquet. This style is quite often chosen for bridesmaids to complement the bride who has chosen the shower or teardrop bouquet.
Formal Posy
This design is a strictly round shaper from the front view, and in a cone shape from the side view. The more formal flowers such as carnations and roses are very popular in this design and the posy normally has an even edge of foliate, lace or tulle aroundt he perimeter.
Informal Posy
The design of an informal posy does not have a strickly round shape. The flowers are placed to have a casual appearance and the flowers inside the design are not even. As a rule quite a lot of foliage is used. Informal posies are quite suitable for a less traditional style of wedding.
Modern Bouquet
For this style the bride choosed the flowers, leaves and other foliage and tells the florist the general size and shape of the bouquet she would like. The actual design is left to the floral designer who constructs the bouquet.
How to carry your bouquet
Every bride wants a beautiful bouquet. However, we suggest when you order your flowers, that you think about how you intend to carry them when you walk down the aisle.
Bouquets should be carried gracefully and naturally with consideration for the bouquet style, the features of the gown and the size of the girl. No detail on the dress should be hidden by the bouquet, and they should be help low enough to reveal the gown.
A bride usually holds her bouquet in one hand, with her arm at her side curving slightly forward. The other hand, remember, is occupied, with her hand on the arm of her father or whom ever is giving her away, and later on the grooms arm.
If you are carrying a sheath, you naturally want the flowers to face away from your body. An index finger placed over the top of the stems keeps this design from slipping.
When you order your flowers, let us know how you intend to carry them, because it could make quite a different to the way we design the bouquet.
Bouquets with long narrow lines are flattering to most girls, and they don't hide a tiny waistline. If you are a petite bride, choose a small bouquet
Remember the fewer the varieties of flowers in your bouquet the more formal it will be.
